STOP PRESS – Boundary commission

As you know there was a massive consultation undertaken by the Boundary Commission and a draft proposal was suggested by them for Havering.

Along with us, many of you submitted comments on their proposed changes to our wards.  We are now advised that:

The Commission has listened to the views of the public put to it during an earlier consultation, and now proposes to change its plans, to reflect the significance of the evidence we received.

From 12 January to 8 March, we will be accepting opinions and comments (submissions) from the public on changed draft recommendations for Havering Council.

These will be published on 12 January.”

Watch this space and please go on line to the Boundary Commission on 12 January to have a look at the new proposals.

As you know many changes appeared to be for political reasons and the Leader of the Council was accused of “gerrymandering” after a recording of a meeting was shared.  We are not surprised that there is a further opportunity for residents to comment.

In fact Private Eye gave the Leader of Havering Council the Gerrymandering Award of 2020.

  1. Top marks to HRA for this campaign. I will certainly look out for the changes and comment accordingly.
