Wasp Nest in St Andrews Park

I received a report of a Wasps Nest – near the slide in St Andrews Park .

The council inspected the site and sent the following to me.

Dear Councillor Middleton

Further to my e-mail of yesterday regarding this matter I can confirm that the location has been inspected by a Parks Development Officer.  I have been informed that these are not wasps but are Miner Bees As most Mining Bees are harmless and all are very placid and not at all aggressive, the service have decided to monitor the area at this stage as they do not want to eradicated unnecessarily as the bees are an important part of the environment.

It appears that similar happened last year at this time of year it may be reoccurring.   I trust that you will find the above information of use.’
