We are pleased to hear that Langtons Gardens has been awarded a ‘Green Flag’ and the London in Bloom Gold Award.
This is down to the Gardeners (Jason and Matthew), the volunteers and the work put in by the Friends Group for Langtons Gardens.
The park and open space boasts the highest possible standards, are well maintained and have excellent facilities.

You may have also seen the recent news that Langtons Gardens has also won Gold in the Park of the year category, for London in Bloom!
The commentary for the judging praised the site as “now a well-established Gold standard site which has benefitted from recent (HLF) investment and continues to be managed to a high standard by two dedicated members of staff and several volunteer groups.”
This shows the continued success of the Heritage lottery Funded Langtons Gardens and Fielders field project.
Congratulations to the parks and ground maintenance staff, and the teams, volunteers, friends groups, and community groups that we work in partnership with.
After the challenges the team and local community has faced over the last few years, this is a fantastic achievement, worth celebrating.
The Judges said that: “Particular highlights were the floral crown sculpture, the restored Orangery, the pollinator friendly beds outside the greenhouse, the lake vistas to the restored sham bridge and the restored Bath House which we were able to see inside of and which is understood to be one of only five remaining in the country. Also of note is the number and diversity of volunteering activities and community involvement, again part of the (HLF) programme; as well as an active Friends. It was very positive to see how sustainable the overall management approach is, with further plans under development, such as rainwater harvesting.” A few suggestions were offered “which are in no way intended as criticism” to improve areas that the team is already acting on, including a small number of edging, weeding areas and ways to improve sustainability. They said there is there is limited scope for increasing scores now – so we are doing great.
Also congratulations to the other parks and open spaces in Havering that achieved these awards.
