The Upminster and District Men’s Probus Club is currently seeking new members.

Upminster and District Probus Club (for men) has over 70 members and meets for lunch once a month. The Club provides an opportunity for retired or semi-retired gentlemen to meet, socialise and make new friends and acquaintances.

We meet on the last Wednesday of each month (one week earlier in December) at The Cranleigh Restaurant, 84 Station Road, Hornchurch RM12 6LX. There is limited parking at The Cranleigh – however, buses193, 252 and 256 stop outside and it’s only a short walk from Hornchurch Town Centre and Hornchurch Station. We gather at around 11.30 am to socialise before sitting down at 12.00 noon for business, followed by an excellent three-course lunch and tea or coffee. After the meal, members are entertained by a guest speaker covering a huge variety of topics. Recent subjects have included The History of Crystal Palace and Working as a Magistrate. In 2020, we look forward to a varied programme including The Highs and Lows of a Stuntwoman and Brunel’s Wonderful Railway.

Throughout the year, the Club, in conjunction with the Deyncourt Ladies’ Probus Club, organises a number of coach outings to various places of interest, to which family and friends are welcome. Recent outings included a trip to award-winning Waddesden Manor and a tour of Windsor Great Park. Among our 2020 trips are a Cockney Matinee on a restaurant ship and an excursion to Vintage Essex.

If you think you may be interested in joining our Club, please contact our secretary, Barry Walsh, on 01708 703783, and leave a message or send an email to:
