On Monday 26th July with the support of Julia Lopez MP and her team, I attended a meeting with the following Key Stake Holders from Network Rail, Thames Water, Transport for London, and a representative from Havering Council to discuss the ongoing issue of flooding in Abbs Cross Lane.
As previously mentioned, for many years, this section of Abbs Cross Lane where the road is bridged over the railway lines, has flooded on many occasions during heavy rainfall. There by affecting residential homes on the north side of Abbs Cross Lane.
After a detailed discussion in which all stakeholders outlined their drainage assets, their current conditions, and their recent investigations to identify potential problems.
It was agreed that the stakeholders would meet to overlay maps to develop a better understanding of the separate drainage systems in this part of Abbs Cross Lane. Following this, engineers will be meeting on site in early August to undertake a further joint inspection.
They have also committed to updating Julia Lopez and myself by the middle of August.
Finally, I want to thank Julia Lopez and her team for their assistance and support in arranging this meeting.
This only goes to show what working together for the benefit of Havering residents can achieve if we put party politics aside. Surely this is how our council should be working?
